Health Ministry Team

Who are we?

A varied group of healthcare professionals (physicians, nurses, pharmacists, EMTs, etc) who simply want to improve the overall health of the congregation.

What is our purpose?

To provide health education and health screening for members of Centenary and the community.  In doing so, our team promotes sound minds and bodies to carry out the church's mission: Bring, Disciple and Send.

3 John 1:2, NIV. "I pray that you may enjoy good health and that all may go well with you, even as your soul is getting along well."

What are some examples of the services we provide?

·       Writing various health education articles for the church newsletter

·       Coordinating and maintaining numerous first aid kits

·       Securing AEDs and providing training for emergency use

·       Sponsoring CPR classes

·       Conducting health screenings

·       Offering a "flu shot" clinic in the fall

"I heard someone mention that the health ministry team offers regular blood pressure screenings.  What do I need to do if I want to be included?"

Our team conducts blood pressure screenings typically on the first Sunday of each month in Shepherd Hall.  Team members are available after each of the morning services.  A blood pressure history is maintained for each program participant so that readings can be compared over time and appropriate counseling is then provided.   In some cases, referrals for medical follow-up are made to ensure proper management.  While this screening activity does not substitute for regularly-scheduled visits to a primary care provider, it does provide a forum for church members and other friends to seek general healthcare education and counseling.

Are we interested in additional team members?

Absolutely!!!  Contact Victoria Wellington, Health Ministry Team Chairperson, at 740-587-2084  for more information.
