Prayer Room
- Where: Room 301 (3rd floor)
Accessible by the stairs or the elevator at the Linden
Alley door. It is a wonderful place to pray, meditate,
read, study, listen to worship music or watch DVD's.
The room is available any time the church is open.
Prayer cards are available for use in the Prayer Room
and the pew racks in the Sanctuary.
Prayer Center
In the lobby, just outside the Sanctuary door on the Main Street side, CUMC has a center with
information and ideas for praying. Be sure to check it out!
Prayer Vigils
- A vigil is an idea many centuries old and indicates a time of "viligance", wakefulness, a watch, originally "kept on
the night before a religious feast with prayer or other devotions". CUMC, like many other churches sets aside
a special prayer vigil during Lent: a season of soul-searching and repentance, a season for reflection and
taking stock of one's spiritual relationship with God. Lent originated in the very early days of the Church as
a prepatory time for Easter, when the faithful rededicated themselves and when converts were instructed in
the faith and prepared for baptism. By observing the forty days of Lent, the individual Christian
imitates Jesus' withdrawl into the wilderness for forty days.
Prayer Walking
At certain times of the year the Prayer Team sets up times to gather as individuals or in small groups to
walk around our town offering prayers to the Lord on behalf of residents, churches, governments, schools,
leaders of the community, our nation and the world, etc. Hand outs are available to give ideas on how to
pray. Of course, anyone can do this on their own at any time and many people already do just that.
Sunday Morning Prayer Time
On Sunday mornings before, during or after each of the three services, we encourage individuals to drop into the
Prayer Room to offer up prayers for the services, including our pastor, worship leaders, Sunday School teachers,
choir, and all of those who are participating. Please, come early or stay later after your time of worship and take a
few minutes to pray for God's anointing to be on each of our services.
Tuesday Nite Life
Like Sunday morning, prayers are needed for Tuesday Nite Life service. They are offered before and during each
service for it to be what God wants and to accomplish what He desires. Every prayer is appreciated and everyone is
welcomed to participate in this important ministry.
