History of Our Prayer Ministry...
Over the years, the structure and even the name of the Wednesday evening prayer meeting evolved and changed as persons in leadership felt inspired by the Spirit of the Lord. The one constant has been our firm belief that drives the other ministries of the church, and as such, is the heart of all service to Christ. We are now combining our weekly prayer meeting with the Tuesday Night Life service. While this is yet another change for this unfolding ministry, we believe that this is another step along the path of becoming a true "House of Prayer" (Matthew 1:13). A prayer team has now been established, which has helped the ministry to expand beyond Wednesday evening gatherings. Sermon studies and Sunday school classes have been focused specifically on prayer in the past year. A seminar with Dr. Terry Teykl (former United Methodist pastor for 28 years) was held in order to teach us about worship-energized prayer as a congregation.
| A Prayer Room has been created, and has been used on a regular basis for scheduled prayer events as well as personal times of prayer. Prayer Cards are kept in the prayer room so requests may be prayed over frequently. Also, cards with the names of our youth and college students were distributed to the congregation for the purpose of prayer support throughout the school year.
As we ask, seek and knock continuously about Centenary's prayer ministry, the Lord is faithful to lead us where it is He desires us to go.
